This pattern is much closer than many that I have seen. Modifications would still have to be made to bring the shoulder button flap up to the shoulder seam (from the neck to the apex of the shoulder). However, I came across an additional resource whilst searching for a good pattern for my own coat. I produced a red one (E.L.E edition) and it was a hit at DragonCon '09. Here's the link.

It has directions for the modification of the Neo Coat pattern, and recommends that you cut some off of the bottom to bring the hem up to near the knees (as this is much nearer to where NPH wears it in the show). Also, if anyone needs additional references, check the Firefly episode Ariel. Same coat was used. Hey, Dr Horrible was done on a budget and they needed to scrounge. BTW, the red one was made by dying one of the white ones a somewhat muted red. You can tell, because the buttons and stitching are still white.
